Changes of Aluminum Dihydrogen Phosphate in Refractories after Forming

The main component of aluminum dihydrogen phosphate is Al [ H2PO4 ] 3, which is soluble in water at normal temperature. As long as there is no coagulant after mixing with refractory materials, the mixture can keep plasticity for a long time, and the products made will not harden in general.

When the molded product is heated to a certain temperature, the aluminum dihydrogen phosphate is changed into aluminum dihydrogen pyrophosphate and aluminum metaphosphate, and then polymerization reaction occurs. it is the aluminum metaphosphate polymer " al [ po3 ] 3" n formed at a temperature above 400 - 500 c that makes the amorphous refractory material form stronger bond and obtain strength with the increase of polymerization degree. while aluminum metaphosphate polymerizes, it also decomposes part of P2O5 and reacts with Al2O3 in the refractory material to form AlPO4, which is also beneficial to improve the strength of the amorphous refractory material.
