Titanium dioxide is widely used in coatings, plastics, papermaking and other industries. It is bound to be affected by raw material mines. Therefore, large and small enterprises all over the world are innovating production processes with lower comprehensive energy consumption.
In this process, if the titanium dioxide is not sufficiently dispersed, agglomeration occurs, making grinding difficult. The selection of a suitable dispersant in actual production can greatly improve the performance of the product. If not properly selected, poor dispersion stability results in flocculation and sedimentation of the dispersed particles.
Industrial sodium hexametaphosphate is a commonly used dispersant in industrial production and is widely used in beneficiation processing. It is an anionic inorganic dispersant. During use, anions adhere to the surface of the mineral to form hydrophilic particles, which ultimately suspend the slurry for dispersion.
Due to the chemical nature of industrial sodium hexametaphosphate, it is also a strong base weak acid salt. Its basic mechanism unit in aqueous solution is PO3-, they can be connected to each other to form a long chain of spiral shape, which can be adsorbed on the particle surface. It is hydrophilic and significantly increases the negative potential of the surface of the particle, ionizes in water to form an anion, and has a certain surface activity. The surface of the large particle has pores or positive charges, so that it can adsorb anions. The electric double layer is made more stable and the dispersion effect is better.
