The Effect of Sodium Hexametaphosphate in Pectin Extraction

With sodium hexametaphosphate as the chelating agent, pectin was extracted from the peel of Passiflora by microwave method. The optimum conditions of chelating agent-assisted microwave-assisted pectin extraction were determined by single factor experiment and orthogonal design. The content of sodium hexametaphosphate was 0.3%, the ratio of material to liquid was 1:20 (g/m L), the power of microwave was 3, the power of microwave was 700 W, the microwave time was 4 minutes, and the yield of pectin was 13.72%. Pectin edible film was prepared by blending peel pectin of Passion fruit with lotus root powder and glycerol. The effects of pectin/lotus root powder ratio, glycerol on the barrier performance, mechanical properties and heat sealing strength of the film were investigated. The experimental results show that the formulation of the film is pectin/lotus root powder 1/1 and the glycerol content is 0.1%. The barrier and mechanical properties of the prepared pectin film are good.



The effect of microwave irradiation time on pectin extraction rate is 1:20 (g/mL), 5% phosphoric acid is used to adjust the pH to 2, 0.3% sodium hexametaphosphate is added to Zhengzhou Yucai Phosphate Chemical Plant, microwave power is 700 w, microwave time is 1.2.3.4.5 min, activated carbon is added to extract pectin at 80 C for 30 min, ethanol is added to static precipitate pectin, filtration and drying, respectively. The yield of pectin was calculated.


Different PH will have different effects on pectin extraction rate. For example, the ratio of material to liquid is 1:20, the pH is adjusted to 1.2.3.4.5 by 10% hydrochloric acid, the content of sodium hexametaphosphate is 0.3%, the microwave power is 700 w, the microwave time is 3 minutes, the activated carbon is added to decolorize at 80 C for 30 minutes, the pectin is precipitated by adding ethanol, and the extraction and drying are used to calculate the pectin yield. When the pH is less than 2, pectin is easy to hydrolyze excessively, which reduces the yield of pectin. When the pH is 2, the yield of pectin will reach the maximum.
