At room temperature, a certain amount of sodium hexametaphosphate was added to the CaCl2 and NaCO3 reaction system to control the synthesis of CaCO3 crystals. The synthesized crystals were characterized by powder XRD diffractometry and FT-IR. The generated CaCO3 was observed by scanning electron microscopy. The morphology of the crystals was studied to investigate the effect of sodium hexametaphosphate concentration on the crystal form and shape of CaCO3. Studies have shown that in aqueous systems, CaCl2 reacts with NaCO3 to form CaCO3 crystals. When the amount of sodium hexametaphosphate is less than 50 mg, a pure calcite crystal form is obtained. When the amount of sodium hexametaphosphate is more than 80 mg, It is a mixture of calcite and vaterite. As the amount of sodium hexametaphosphate increases, the crystals of vaterite increase increase. The experimental results show that sodium hexametaphosphate has a certain stabilizing effect on the crystals of vaterite.
