The role of sodium pyrophosphate in galena

sodium pyrophosphate, carboxymethyl cellulose and their mixtures have become new prescriptions for flotation separation of copper-lead mixed concentrates. In order to compare the advantages and disadvantages between their separation indexes and the formulation of traditional effective reagents (dichromates), flotation tests were carried out with the same samples and processes under their respective optimal technological conditions.

The separation efficiency of copper-lead mixed concentrates with different prescriptions was investigated by batch scraping.

The separation efficiency of sodium pyrophosphate, mixture and sodium dichromate is similar, and the flotation speed of copper is very fast. After three minutes of flotation, the separation efficiency of mixture increases gradually, while that of sodium dichromate decreases gradually. That is to say, with the prolongation of flotation time, the inhibition of galena decreases and the flotation of lead increases obviously. From the test, the floating rate is the highest among the four pharmacies. Obviously, dichromate is not as effective as mixture and sodium pyrophosphate.

2. Carboxymethyl cellulose has strong inhibition effect on galena, but because of its poor selectivity, copper is restrained to a certain extent and flotation speed is slow. Under the action of large amount of foaming agent, the loss rate of copper in tailings is still as high as 15.92%, which is more than 12% than other reagents. At the same time, because of its sensitivity to the change of reagent dosage, the flotation process is unstable. The cost is high. The technicians believe that it is difficult to obtain the ideal sorting index by using CMC alone without choosing the appropriate agent to cooperate with it.

In a word, the mixture of sodium pyrophosphate and carboxymethyl cellulose has strong inhibition effect on galena, good selectivity, almost no influence on the flotation of copper minerals, high separation efficiency of copper-lead mixed concentrate, can effectively replace the common dichromate used in flotation separation of copper-lead mixed concentrate, and has great significance for eliminating chromium ion pollution to the environment. It has the advantages of simple process flow, stable flotation process, strong adaptability, easy operation, advanced index and low cost.
